advanced materials, grown from coffee and other plants.

redo is a materials-science company. We engineer a patented bio-based composite from spent coffee grounds and flax — and turn it into real products. Our first brand is Ochis, eyewear made from coffee.

from waste to materials

from waste to materials.

redo develops advanced bio-based materials from agricultural waste. By combining material science, product development and manufacturing, we valorise coffee waste and other agricultural by-products into durable materials.

From packaging and consumer goods to retail applications and custom projects — we build our own brands on the material, and develop products with partners moving away from fossil-based plastic.

the material

biocofex. a patented family of composite materials.

Biocofex is made from coffee waste, plant-based binders and natural fibres — roughly half of its mass is prepared spent coffee grounds. Designed as an alternative to conventional plastics, the platform adapts to different products, manufacturing methods and performance requirements. Its bio-based carbon content is high.

+

built for everyday products

Independent bending tests show flexural strength of roughly 30–39 MPa — suited to consumer products, packaging and interior applications, with a durable feel and a distinctive natural look.

+

lower impact by design

GCIP impact modelling, based on IdeMat data, indicates up to 75% lower carbon emissions than petroleum-based plastics — through agricultural waste, plant-based polymers and low-temperature manufacturing.

+

solvent-free formulation

A solvent-free polyurethane on modified castor / soy oil, filled with prepared coffee grounds and reinforced with natural fibres — a durable thermoset built to last and be reused.

finishes

one material, different faces.

By changing the filler, fibre and surface, the same composite takes on distinct textures — room to design with, not just a single look.

how it works

from a coffee cup to a finished material.

01

you drink coffee

Every cup leaves spent grounds behind — a daily by-product the world throws away.

02

we collect the grounds

We gather spent coffee from roasters and shops — and flax shives from local industry.

03

we engineer the composite

A patented preparation and binder turn the waste into a strong, stable bio-based material.

04

we make the product

From frames to pens — the material is shaped into goods that are meant to be kept.

applications

one material, multiple applications.

Biocofex already appears in eyewear, packaging, cases, premium stationery and branded merchandise — one material carried from coffee waste into finished, everyday products.

01

premium pens

A pen you actually want to pick up — cast from the coffee composite and finished with brass, copper and gilded metal. Proof the material can carry a properly premium object.

02

the ochis case

A hard, durable eyewear case moulded from the coffee composite — made for the Ochis eyewear brand. Proof the material holds up as a finished, everyday object.

03

premium packaging

Durable, multi-use boxes and cases with a premium tactile finish — made to order for brands, retail and gifting.

eyewear

The composite shaped into sunglasses and optical frames — lightweight, durable, and with a texture you can feel. Commercialised through the Ochis brand.

flagship brand

ochis. eyewear made from coffee.

Biocofex is already commercialised through Ochis eyewear — thousands of products sold internationally across ~48 countries and two Kickstarter campaigns, and featured by Forbes, BBC, Business Insider, Vogue, Marie Claire and other international media.

for partners

partner with redo.

We work with brands and organisations looking to transform agricultural waste into commercially viable products and materials. From custom material development to finished products, we support projects from concept to production.

A

custom material development

We tune the composite — filler, reinforcement, finish, colour — to your performance and aesthetic needs, on a binder chemistry that already accepts multiple bio-fillers.

B

by-product valorisation

Bring us your organic by-product — coffee grounds, flax, and beyond. We assess it and turn a waste stream into a material, and a material into a product made in your region.

C

product development & manufacturing

From concept to a validated, manufacturable part — with active development of thin-wall forming to extend the material into packaging and lightweight goods.

the science

measured, not estimated.

Biocofex is a thermoset bio-composite — durable, water-resistant and made to be reused, not thrown away. These are real figures from our own and independent testing.
